With the Polaris, UniCaps presents a technologically and materially sophisticated coffee capsule that enables the filling, long-term storage and preparation of tasty coffee at the highest level. The oxygen barrier of the Polaris is comparable to the oxygen barrier of aluminum capsules and ensures the preservation and further development of coffee aromas as well as the usual minimum shelf life of conventional plastic or aluminum capsules.

Our second generation of biocapsules (PHA-based) allows faster composting than standard bioplastic capsule solutions (PLA-based). Additionally, unlike PLA, PHA can also be broken down in household compost. PHA is an invention of nature and is produced naturally by the bacteria Bacillus Megaterium. PHA is therefore 100% natural.

BIOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE

All our organic coffees come from ecologically sustainable agriculture and are certified organic according to EU standards. The producers of our organic coffees rely above all on healthy soils and an intact ecosystem. Only plant protection products and natural fertilizers are used

GENTLE DRUM ROASTING

To ensure excellent natural taste, we use the most modern aroma preservation processes in coffee refining - from the careful selection of organic Arabica and Robusta beans by our experienced coffee sommeliers to the careful roasting in a drum.

MULTI-STAGE GRINDING

By grinding the coffee with high precision in three stages, we enable ideal and uniform extraction of all flavors and aromas during preparation.

FILLING IN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY CAPSULES

Our capsules are true geniuses. They are mainly made up of bio-sourced raw materials (around 96%), are biodegradable according to the EN 13432 standard and can be used in industrial and domestic compost. The excellent sealing of the capsule ensures a long shelf life.

CLIMATE NEUTRAL, FROM THE CULTURE TO YOU

We produce with green electricity and use waste heat from our machines to produce hot water.
We offset climate emissions that we cannot (yet) avoid via ClimatePartner by supporting projects certified for climate protection. This is how we make our products climate neutral, from cultivation to delivery and disposal. You can find more information about the projects in our ClimatelD tracker.

DISPOSAL WITH HOUSEHOLD WASTE

Our MY COFFEE CUP products are certified according to the internationally recognized standard EN 13432 for industrial composting as well as for domestic composting. However, as our bio-based capsules go beyond the waste treatment system, used capsules cannot be recycled in composting plants. Our capsules are also safe for household waste: thanks to the high proportion of renewable raw materials, they do not cause any additional climate emissions, even when thermally recycled.

THERMAL RECYCLING

Thermal recycling is currently the most environmentally friendly way to use our bio-sourced coffee capsules. During combustion, only the proportion of CO2 that the contained raw materials have fixed during their growth phase is emitted. Additionally, the capsules can also contribute to the conversion of steam into energy and heat
