The English Breakfast blend is a popular combination from Darjeeling and Assam gardens. On the southern slopes of the Himalayas, near the town of Darjeeling. There, it is mainly women who pick the noble leaves of Camellia sinensis. Which are then transformed into tea of the same name. Mountainous, foggy and cool. The tea plant therefore grows slowly. And with smaller but more aromatic leaves. Unlike the tea plantations of Assam. In the northeast of India. A river provides fertile soil there: the Brahmaputra. And also the monsoon rains. A climate like in a greenhouse. Hot and humid. Assam is the largest tea producing region in the world. And the largest connected cultivation area. Even with its own time zone: “Tea Garden Time”.
