Coffee grounds contain a multitude of antioxidants that provide protection against free radicals. Free radicals are very aggressive and attack our cells. Our cellular structure can then change or, in the worst case, damage our cellular function or our DNA. Coffee grounds are full of effective substances and are therefore far too valuable to throw in the trash. Using coffee grounds saves money and helps the environment. But what exactly can you do with coffee grounds?

Caffeine is said to stimulate blood circulation and have a draining effect. During a body peel, this should help firm the connective tissue and gently remove dandruff from the skin while stimulating cell renewal.

Application:

  3. Leave the coffee scrub on your skin for about 20 minutes.

Coffee base contains nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus and can therefore be used as fertilizer for many plants. As the coffee base is slightly acidic, it is optimal for plants that need acidic soil. These include hydrangeas and rhododendrons, but coffee grounds fertilizer also works well for natural plants like cucumber, tomato, zucchini, blueberries and strawberries.


Attention: due to the tannic acid, not all plants appreciate coffee-based fertilizer. These include, for example, carrots, potatoes, garlic, asparagus, grapes, raspberries and elderberries.

The coffee decoction must always be cooled and dry to prevent the root ball from becoming moldy. To do this, place it in an open container to air dry.

It is interesting to know: Many snails do not like caffeine and can therefore be kept away from vegetable beds with coffee fertilizer.

Coffee grounds remove scratches from wood

The rest of the brewed coffee powder can also be reused wisely at home, as it can repair light scratches on dark wooden furniture.

Coffee grounds reduce dark circles

Everyone who has ever slept poorly and has to get up early in the morning knows this phenomenon: Dark circles under the eyes. But if you know how to use your coffee grounds, you will have fewer problems, because the caffeine it contains promotes blood circulation. To do this, apply the coffee base under your eyes and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. Caffeine constricts blood vessels and removes fluid from swelling.

Lip exfoliator

In summer as in winter, it is essential to take care of our lips. The coffee decoction contains oils that have an antibacterial effect and stimulate blood circulation in the lips, which appear fuller.

Recipe for lip scrub:

  1. 1 teaspoon of coffee grounds
  2. 1 teaspoon of baking soda (alternatively, you can also use sugar)
  3. 1 teaspoon of coconut oil


Mix the three ingredients in a bowl, massage the scrub onto the lips for 2 to 3 minutes and remove the remaining scrub with warm water.

Apply the product once a week and dry lips will be nothing more than a bad memory.

Empty the chimney with coffee decoction

This tip involves using the coffee decoction when it is hot and humid. Sprinkle the grounds over the ashes before removing them from the chimney. The coffee base can bind dust and ash, making emptying the chimney much easier as no dust is kicked up.
